CITATION: Piers Akerman

A journalist with the Daily Telegraph in Sydney, Piers Akerman has been recognized for the coverage he has given to developments in the Heiner Affair, including the completion by a Queens Counsel of an audit of allegations of suspected official misconduct by more than sixty public officials within Queensland.

Whistleblowers Action Group has reached the judgment that the Queensland justice system has been so corrupted by the failures to act on the destruction of the Heiner documents, and on  the pack rape and abuse of children in State Institutions, that the system is no longer capable of reforming itself.

A return by the system to proper law and justice will require, in the judgement of the Group, external agency or intervention to correct the Heiner and associated corruptions and resurrect lawful processes in Queensland.

Piers Akermann’s attention to this scandal, from outside of Queensland, is a forthright example of the character and courage that will be needed by other Australians if the malady of Queensland is not to spread into our national capital and into our Federal system.
