Advocacy
QWAG remains a continuing advocate for justice to be provided to past whistleblowers and for reform of the justice system so as to ensure that whistleblowers are not harmed in the future.
The following information links are provided for those interested in the efforts of QWAG in its advocacy role:
Whistleblowing Cases of National Significance. With limited resources, QWAG has prioritised its efforts to obtain justice for past whistleblowers to the cases of Colin Dillon, Jim Leggate and Kevin Lindeberg. These whistleblowers are three of five whistleblowers, recognised by all whistleblowing organisations in Australia, whose histories are deemed to be Cases of National Significance.
Annual Whistleblowing Awards. This is the oldest set whistleblowing awards in the world. QWAG seeks by these awards to acknowledge acts of bravery and integrity by whistleblowers and acts of courage and support by others that have distinguished the lives of the recipients. The integrity of the awards has been marked by the decision not to make the award in certain years, by decisions to keep the award confidential in other cases, and by bestowing the award in certain instances to some who have drawn criticism by members and other whistleblowers for actions taken at another time.
Examples of QWAG activities, in the areas listed below, are offered through the links provided. Much of the content has also been conveyed to government bodies and inquiries
Membership. While all are welcome to QWAG activities, Membership is restricted to those who can demonstrate that they have made a public interest disclosure against their employer or equivalent in contract based employment or member based organisation.
